Every case is different, and outcomes depend on the authority’s decision — Refund builds the strongest honest case it can from the facts you provide, but the final call always rests with the council or transport authority. Here’s what to keep in mind.

Refund will let you know the outcome. If there are further escalation options — for example the Disputes Tribunal or the District Court — it will explain what they are and what they involve.Escalating is entirely your decision. Further steps may carry their own costs, time, and risk, and Refund does not automatically handle them on your behalf.
Sometimes paying is the right call, especially for time-sensitive fines where a missed deadline could increase the amount owed. But checking costs you nothing, and people are often surprised how it goes.Refund will always be upfront if a case has very low prospects — we won’t waste your time or raise false hope.
It varies by council. Refund submits your case promptly and tracks the deadline. Some councils respond within days; others take several weeks. The agent will follow up if the authority goes quiet.
Act as quickly as possible — some fines have tight appeal windows, and missing them can remove your right to contest the notice. Start your case as soon as you receive the fine.Once a deadline has passed, options may be limited. Refund will be honest about what is and isn’t possible if you come to us late.
